Meta Business Agent Costs & Prices 2026 – What can businesses expect?

The first question almost everyone asks as soon as they hear about the Meta Business Agent is: How much does it cost? The answer is simple at the moment, but it’s set to become more complex. This article gives you a comprehensive overview of what is known, what to expect, and how to position yourself strategically right now.

This article is part of our comprehensive Meta Business Agent Guide – there you’ll find all the topics relating to the Meta Business Agent at a glance.

Current status: Free of charge

At the time of the global launch on 4 June 2026, the Meta Business Agent will be free for all eligible businesses. No subscription, no set-up fee, no hidden costs. Meta has deliberately removed any barriers to entry in order to bring as many businesses as possible onto the platform as quickly as possible.

This is not an unusual strategy. Meta followed the same approach when launching the WhatsApp Business app, which remains free to this day. The free phase serves to build up a critical mass of active users, who will then be transitioned to paid tiers in the medium term.

What Meta has announced

Meta has officially announced that the agent will be transitioned to paid subscription tiers in the coming months. Specific prices, exact tier limits or a timetable have not yet been published. What is known is that pricing will be tiered according to company size. Small businesses will pay less than medium-sized ones, and medium-sized businesses less than large ones.

This suggests a model that Meta is already familiar with from other products: a free basic tier with limited features, and paid tiers offering advanced functions, higher message volumes or additional configuration options.

The Enterprise pricing model

For companies running the agent via the Meta Business Agent Platform, a different model is already in place. Here, billing is based on token consumption, similar to OpenAI or other LLM providers. You pay based on your actual usage volume, rather than a flat fee.

This has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that, with low volumes, the costs are proportionally low. The disadvantage is that, with high message volumes, costs can escalate rapidly, and without careful cost control, unexpected bills can arise. Calculating costs before an enterprise rollout is therefore not just an optional exercise.

A comparison with current alternatives

To put the future costs of Meta Business Agent into perspective, it is worth taking a look at what companies currently pay for comparable solutions.

An average WhatsApp BSP subscription for an SME costs between 100 and 500 euros a month, depending on the provider and the range of features, plus the messaging costs charged directly by Meta. For medium-sized companies with higher volumes and more features, this can quickly run to between 1,000 and 3,000 euros a month.

Even if the Meta Business Agent costs between 50 and 100 euros a month in future, this represents a significant cost saving for most businesses compared with existing solutions. And it comes with built-in AI capabilities that are either not available at all from third-party providers or must be paid for separately.

The strategic implications of the free trial period

This is where it gets interesting. The current free phase isn’t just a nice offer; it’s a strategic opportunity that won’t come around again in this form.

Anyone who gets on board now can train their agent using real customer data, optimise the knowledge base, refine the instructions and build a working solution – completely free of charge. By the time the paid models are introduced, this agent will already have months of real conversations under its belt and will be significantly more capable than an agent set up from scratch.

Those who wait will not only start later; they’ll also have to pay for having to train their agent from scratch, whilst early adopters will already be running an optimised agent.

What we don’t yet know

To be completely transparent: a great deal is still up in the air at the moment. It has not been made clear which features will remain in the free tier and which will disappear behind a paywall. It is unclear whether there will be a permanent free tier or whether all businesses will eventually have to pay. It is not yet known how messaging costs will be integrated into the new pricing model.

This is not a criticism of Meta; it is simply the reality of a global product launch. The commercial details are still being finalised, whilst the product is already in use by millions of businesses.

We are monitoring developments very closely and will inform our newsletter subscribers immediately once Meta publishes specific figures.
